In January 2004, Rev. Sellers became the eighth Pastor of the Historic Friendship Baptist Church in the Rosedale Community of Homewood, Alabama. The church is a Traditional Baptist Church that has a high spirited contemporary praise component. During his tenure, Christian conversions, congregational ministries, and community outreach endeavors have grown. Church membership has increased under his leadership. Under his leadership, several ministries and new programs have been added to the church. Rev. Sellers has also been instrumental in creating a fellowship network of other churches in the Homewood area.
Rev. Sellers serves as the Moderator for the Mount Pilgrim Baptist District Association which is comprised of more than 160 churches. He is currently serving as President of the Faith Based Alliance for Advancement of Health Equity and Chaplain for the Jefferson County Sheriff Dept.
He was employed with Harbison-Walker Ref. for more than 25 years and served as President of Local 553 United Steel Workers. In addition, Rev. Sellers served as a Chaplain for St. Vincent’s Health Systems as well as Vice-President of Woodridge Neighborhood Association.
Rev. Sellers is a product of the Jefferson County School System. He is a graduate of Hueytown High School. Rev. Sellers received his Bachelor’s degree in Theology from the Birmingham Baptist Bible College. He earned his Masters of Ministry and Doctor of Ministry Degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla GA. Rev. Sellers is the husband of Cassandra Minard Sellers (for more than 29yrs) and the proud father of two children, Robert Jr. and Robin.
